The owner of this 70's Piper Cherokee is an out of work airline pilot who's abandoning aviation to follow in his stepson's footstep by smoking pot and watering flowers at Home Depot.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

At 47 years of age I have decided to abandon my dreams of flying and do what my step son is doing. I am going to get the fuck out of aviation and work along side him at Home Depot watering flowers, invest heavily into marijuana and smoke my brains out while drinking wild turkey every night. I'm very serious about this! I should have done this years ago! I got to give him credit, he does keep his room spotless!

Be sure to bid it up if you want a great deal on a solid airplane and want to help out a family get high.

Update: The listing has been edited to remove all references to marihuana. If anyone has any screen shots of the original ad, please share.

There are stupid things, and then there's this.

I hope he'll get benefits from Home Depot, because they're a very unreliable place to work, at least around here.

But his ad probably wont help get him a pilot gig anywhere other than CO.

Dayum, that's some industrial-strength cynicism. You could fuel a dozen self-hating alcoholics with that!

In all seriousness, I feel kinda bad for the dude. Must be hard out there for an unemployed pilot his age these days. There's probably always some freshly-licensed kid with zero experience but willing to work for shit pay that gets the job instead of him.

So...basically he used ebay to get a job instead of LinkedIn. Never thought of that. Interesting approach.

Somehow I don't feel like he ever wanted to sell his plane and just wanted to get attention to find a job. And no, i'm not being a troll. This is a great idea, if he really is using ebay to find a job.

Joke or not, he's describing a good life: I know a grower and his quality of living is just SO good. Lives simply, makes very good money, enjoys the "fruits" of his labor as he wishes and actually makes the world happier for it — Even watering plants does that better than, say, marketing. I own my own biz and toil in my garden when I can but giving it up for growing herb and enjoying Wild Turkey is a genuine temptation!

No it was not. The short story. He was flying a Rutan LongEZ, never referred to as the "doctor killer", in which the builder had moved the fuel selector valve over the pilots left shoulder instead of on the floor between the pilots legs…as the designer intended. The builder was 6+' and Dnver was short. He was flying at ~700 over the bay when he had to switch tanks. He had a pad behind him so he could reach the rudder peddles. As he reached over his left should to turn the selector valve his hips rotated slightly causing his right foot to depress the right rudder peddle, they are independent rudders. By the time he turned back he had rolled ~90deg right and nose down. No time or altitude to recover. There were other factors but those are the main ones.

I can really advise going another route: take up gliding as a hobby. You'll meet airline pilots, and many more interesting people. I've heard from an airline pilot that he found gliding to be the purest form of flying and that he enjoys his off time in his glider so much more.
